Reese Witherspoon's Home
These beautiful pictures of Reese Witherspoon and her home just showed up in my inbox. Her home is filled with lots of antique furniture that fits with an easy relaxed way of life and active family. You can read more about her home in Elle Decor right here.
Here are some more interiors by Reese's super talented interior designer, Kristen Buckingham.

Contemporary Kitchen Renovation and more...
Renovations are tough! Not for me, as a designer, but for the families that have to live through them. Your life is in upheaval for several months or longer. But when my clients see the finished result (especially after the seeing the "before" pictures), they say it was well worth it! My client had a fantastic contractor, but of course, I'd like to think I helped the process go more smoothly too! Once I discovered what style and color direction they wanted to go in, the pieces fell into place. Enjoy the before and after pictures of this renovation.
Here's a BEFORE picture of the kitchen...
And here's the AFTER picture. The glass bar top makes for a great focal point. I also like how the pendant lights turned out.
The glass tile backsplash compliments the glass bar top above and the honed black granite countertops. I love the faucet the homeowners found!
The grey porcelain floor tile below has a staggered pattern, is durable for an active family and looks good too.
Another BEFORE picture...
Here's the AFTER picture with new maple cabinets and contemporary hardware.
An old stove was replaced with this gas fireplace.
A painting similar to the one below will soon be placed above the fireplace.
Last week all the seating from Lee Industries arrived for their family room. The plush rug provides a soft surface against the tile. The scale of all the upholstered pieces is smaller due to the narrow space. We didn't want the look to be too "matchy-matchy" so different styles and fabrics were selected for each piece. It all works well together and doesn't make the room feel crowded.
Here's the BEFORE picture...
Pretty pillows add pattern and pull together all the colors used in the space. Sofa arms have a narrow profile plus I'm really liking the top stitching used for the sofa cushions versus a more traditional welt.
The Room and Board media console is a good length for the long wall and works well with the wooden kitchen stools placed on the opposite side of the room.
I also like how the media console stain color works with the front door stain color below.
This chair, inspired by the famous Barcelona chair, swivels to face either the TV, the kitchen or the fireplace!
The grey leather chair swivels and reclines. What more can you ask for?
This room will continue to evolve. The next layers to be added include window treatments, lighting, accent tables, family photos, accessories and artwork such as these...
One of my favorite parts of what I do is seeing the transformation and hearing how happy my clients are with the results. But what I enjoy most is the relationship that is formed with my clients during the design and implementation process...getting to know my clients better, working together towards a common goal, and the mutual trust and friendship that is formed along the way. I guess I'm feeling a little sappy today!
Have a good rest of the week!
