South Beach

In less then twelve hours I'll be flying to South Beach with some of my closest friends for a long weekend.  I've never been and hear it's quite the experience...great food, gorgeous beaches, beautiful people everywhere, and wonderful Art Deco style.  Luckily I was able to raid my sister-in-law's closet for some fun clothes to wear!

Here are some of our plans (all subject to change of course)...

We're staying at the Betsy...

Can't wait to relax on the beach...

Eat lunch at Mr. Chows...

A little shopping at Lincoln Rd...

A drink at sunset at Mondrian Sunset Lounge...

Dinner at the Delano Hotel...

Followed by dancing at the Liv (assuming we are still awake and can get in!)...

I would also like to fit in a tour of the interiors of the Viceroy Hotel and The Tides who were both designed by Kelly Wearstler, a very talented and fearless designer.

 

My typical weekends are so different then then the one I'm about to experience.  It's nice to change things up a bit and spend time with good friends!

1stdibs just reminded me why I like Darryl Carter so much...he makes “traditional” look so fresh!  He mixes antiques, flea market finds, and modern pieces so they look like they belong together.  He also loves dogs, lives in DC and is a lawyer who turned designer...my inspiration! Here are some of my favorite pics... 

Not afraid to mix woods and adds visual interest with mix of textures and pattern in accent rug

Great furniture for a family...table looks better the more abuse it gets and chair seats are covered in something durable.

Don't have great art then hang pictures of your family and pets.

                       

Like the contrast of dark furniture and accents against white.    Darryl Carter is always repurposing items for his interiors...very green!
