Recent Project: Pretty Bathroom Renovation

One of the first things I ask of clients is to share inspiration photos of rooms they like.  When my client showed me inspiration pictures for their master bathroom, I was pretty excited because some of the pictures were in my own inspiration files for my own house.  The bathrooms were classic, spa like with a slight seaside feel.

Here's the BEFORE picture of my client's bathroom.

Here's the AFTER picture.  We used Wythe Blue, one of my favorite Ben Moore colors, on the walls.

Porcelain tiles that look like wood were used on the floor.

Here's the BEFORE of the same window.  The client opted to forgo the tub in the new design.

The toilet is now in it's own room with a pocket door.

I'm thrilled with how the shower turned out.  The marble subway tile is even more stunning in person.

The brushed nickel has a soft warm glow.

The marble mosaic floor was a splurge but well worth the investment.

We made some changes to the bedroom, like this pretty light fixture.

A BEFORE picture.

The new bed, bench, duvet cover and carpet make a big difference.

Another great project and another great client!  But I also want to mention the folks who helped transform this bathroom....The architect, Jeff Gallaher of Severna Park, the builder, Koehne Contracting of Annapolis, MD and the tile installer, Don Conrad of Arnold, MD.  I've worked with this group on several projects and their workmanship is superb.

Have a good weekend!

Hi Melissa
Congratulations-You did a great job on that bathroom. I am planning a bathroom reno and I have a question for you-The shower we have now has a mosaic tile floor that has terribly stained grout. It was sealed, but it still discoloured. It drives me nuts!I don't want the same thing to happen with a new floor, so can you tell me what product was used to seal the floor and it you have any advice regarding this issue.
Thanks so much
Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Don Conrad, with Bayside Tile, recommends Bulletproof sealer by Dupont. It's pricier but worth it. Good luck with your bathroom reno!

That was a splendid transformation! Job well done on remodeling! I’m pretty sure your clients are quite happy with the results. The bathroom looks brighter and spacious compared to the previous design. Also, the color scheme used on the design does well for the space. It looks more neat, relax and very inviting.

Wow! Great job! You have transformed your ordinary bathroom into a classy one. The soft color and uncluttered fixtures make the difference, I might say.

Your new bathroom spells simplicity and modernity. I love how the subtle colors play a major role in this transformation. The Wythe Blue paint gives a sense of peace and tranquility. But what I love the most is that beautiful and unique chandelier. The crystals look like water drops that are about to fall from the plant. Very unusual but gorgeous lighting fixture.[Katie Rogers]

What an incredible transformation! The design made the bathroom more spacious. Adding accents such as light fixtures and the oval mirror give emphasis to their own corners in the room. The tiles used are very ‘Greek,’ as well as the color scheme of the entire bathroom.

Your new bathroom is so beautiful! Who designed it? Aside from green, I think blue will also look good in your bathroom. Good job!
